Philanthropy is one of the key pillars of The Conscious Travel Foundation. Through membership fees and events, we raise money to support grassroots charities and initiatives worldwide, choosing to support projects linked to tourism that make a tangible difference to local communities and the environment. Our Programme
Created in partnership with Philanthropy Without Borders, our approach is centred around grassroots charitable initiatives across the globe, showcasing the potential to generate revenue through tourism. Through our philanthropy programme, we not only facilitate an equitable spread of donations, but also create opportunities for our members to build genuine, lasting relationships with the projects and communities they support, with our work being recognised with the PURE Life Experiences Changemakers Award. To ensure that every member can engage in a way that is impactful and relevant, we offer two variations of philanthropic giving through membership, carefully tailored to different types of travel businesses.
Member Directed Giving
Our accommodation, DMC, guides and operator members help us identify and nominate deserving projects that are making a real difference to promoting conscious travel and community wellbeing. They donate the charitable portion of their membership fees to their chosen project in their destination. These projects are then invited to apply to receive the Community Impact Fund.
Community Impact Fund
Our Community Impact Fund is funded by membership fees from our travel designer, tour operator, marketing and consultant members, alongside funds raised by events and donations. Every annual award cycle, our Philanthropy Committee review applications from our community, selecting two recipients to receive our three year grant and offering complimentary membership to the Foundation.
