A historic property in Marrakech's ancient Medina dating to the Almoravid dynasty, Riad Botanica was created by an Australian-Moroccan couple who met by chance in the souks and fell in love with each other and the culture. Their thoughtful 2022 renovation preserved the building's aristocratic heritage while employing local craftspeople skilled in traditional zellige tilework and hand-carved plasterwork. At its heart, both literal and symbolic, the riad centers around a mature orange tree, nourished by an original well system that symbolises the property's connection to nature and wellbeing.

With four elegant suites and a two-bedroom apartment, Riad Botanica fuses Australian elements like hand-printed Florence Broadhurst wallpaper with authentic Moroccan craftsmanship. Their philosophy emphasises slowing down and looking inward, creating a tranquil sanctuary where guests can reconnect with themselves and learn about local traditions firsthand. By supporting local artisans and preserving traditional building methods, they maintain the architectural heritage of Marrakech while creating meaningful employment opportunities in the community.
